Bishop’s Original™ inventor John Bishop was instrumental in the production of Slick 50 when he and his partners from Homecare International introduced the revolutionary formula to the motor industry in 1978 through their company Petrolon Inc.

However, in 1984 Bishop was forced out of the company and away from the unique formula he had developed. Bishop subsequently took his former partners to court and won the rights to his formula, as well as ensuring that all products from Petrolon Inc, including Slick 50, were to remove all claims pertaining to his formula.
